Sr Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid, with locations in Comunidad de Madrid, Spain, Antwerp, Belgium, and Stockholm, Sweden; expected to work from the Madrid office every quarter.

Salary: €70,000–€90,000 per year, depending on skills and experience.

What you will do

• Shape how conversation-routing and product-assistant services integrate with Agentic Orchestration, neighboring product APIs, and identity systems.
• Build backend APIs, persistence, and orchestration for multi-step AI workloads, including durable workflows, retries, and restart-safe state.
• Lead code reviews, technical discussions, and knowledge-sharing sessions while mentoring and supporting other engineers.
• Participate in on-call rotations and incident response for production systems.
• Improve system health through test coverage, technical-debt reduction, and operational practices.
• Help develop team tools, guardrails, and shared practices for using AI across discovery, development, review, and incidents.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in Python and Node.js/TypeScript.
• Experience with real-time systems, including streaming APIs such as SSE or WebSocket, and event-driven architectures.
• Hands-on experience with distributed systems and microservices, including state management across replicas using technologies such as etcd or Redis.
• Experience building RESTful APIs and event-driven systems; Kafka experience is preferred within this requirement.
• Hands-on experience with durable workflow orchestration, ideally Temporal, including long-running workflows, activities, retries, and concurrency across workers.
• Solid experience with complex cloud infrastructure, ideally GCP and/or AWS.
• Working knowledge of MongoDB or similar document databases.
• Strong system design fundamentals covering scalability, latency, failover, and trade-offs.
• Production experience with AI, LLMs, or agents and a working grasp of RAG, tool use, agent patterns, evaluation, guardrails, and LLM observability.
• Active use of AI in engineering work with full accountability for shipped work.
• Clear written and spoken English and comfort working in a distributed, cross-functional team.

Nice to have

• Experience with conversational AI, chatbot or voicebot platforms, or NLP/NLU pipelines.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with identity management, including OAuth/OIDC.
• Experience in a CPaaS, scale-up, or fast-growth product company.
