Lead Mechanical Engineer – Costing & Quoting (Manufacturing)

Location: Fully remote from Kazakhstan, Georgia, or Serbia; collaboration with teams in the US Eastern Time Zone; EU or local holiday calendar depending on location.

What you will do

• Provide technical leadership to engineers involved in sourcing, cost estimation, and quoting.
• Review CAD models and technical drawings to assess manufacturing complexity, feasibility, and production requirements.
• Guide the selection of manufacturing processes, materials, and post-processing methods.
• Review and validate quotation content, including manufacturing assumptions, cost calculations, and specifications.
• Lead technical discussions with customers and manufacturing partners, resolve challenges, and align on feasible solutions.
• Mentor engineers, support technical prioritization and escalations, and improve review practices, quoting consistency, and collaboration across Engineering, Sourcing, and Sales.

Requirements

• Higher technical education in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven manufacturing experience involving complex parts, components, or products.
• Previous experience as a technical lead, lead engineer, or senior engineer providing guidance to others.
• Strong knowledge of machining and fabrication processes, including CNC turning and milling, sheet metal processing, cutting, and welding.
• Experience assessing manufacturing costs, including materials, machining time, tooling, and post-processing.
• Ability to review 3D CAD models and 2D technical drawings, identify manufacturing challenges, and evaluate proposed solutions.
• Ability to validate quotations, identify missing information, and explain technical assumptions clearly.
• English proficiency at B1–B2 level.
• Ability to lead technical discussions, support engineers’ development through practical guidance and knowledge sharing, and manage multiple requests and competing priorities under pressure.
