Squad Lead (Database Operations)

What you will do

• Lead, motivate, mentor, and support the career development of a team of database professionals and engineers.
• Oversee business-critical 24x7 database operations, including availability, incident backlog, capacity, performance, recurring incidents, and SLA compliance.
• Drive ITIL-aligned Incident, Problem, Change, Request, and Capacity Management processes.
• Run Agile ceremonies, manage operational backlogs, optimize workflows and priorities, and improve database delivery processes.
• Act as the primary escalation point for technical incidents and engage with customers and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Own the database environment end to end and translate complex business requirements into reliable, scalable infrastructure solutions.

Requirements

• Demonstrated ability to lead, manage, and mentor a team of database professionals and engineers.
• Hands-on technical and operational expertise across Oracle Database, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, AWS Aurora PostgreSQL, and IBM Db2.
• Proven experience operating and supporting business-critical 24x7 database services under strict uptime requirements.
• Deep experience implementing and managing ITIL Incident, Problem, Change, Request, and Capacity Management processes and defining operational metrics.
• Proven ability to analyze complex technical challenges, optimize delivery through improved ways of working, and align database strategies with corporate goals.
• Ability to prioritize customer success, platform reliability, operational excellence, personal development, and collaboration with diverse cross-functional teams.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• ITIL v3/v4, Certified ScrumMaster, PMP, Six Sigma, or relevant Oracle, Microsoft, AWS, or IBM certification.
