Specialist, Systems Engineering (Rocket Propulsion)

Location: Onsite at the Canoga Park, California facility, United States; up to 10% travel required. The schedule is 9/80, with every other Friday off. Ability to obtain a US Secret security clearance is required; security clearances may only be granted to US citizens.

Salary: $91,500–$172,500 per year in California.

What you will do

• Develop, derive, allocate, document, and verify system, subsystem, and component requirements for rocket propulsion product development.
• Coordinate requirements, specification changes, verification plans, compliance assessment, and certification with integrated product teams.
• Perform functional analysis and coordinate system trade studies to support optimized system architectures and objectives.
• Coordinate project risk and opportunity assessments, mitigation plans, schedules, and completion activities.
• Present technical findings and status updates through written reports, oral presentations, meetings, and teleconferences.
• May direct, coordinate, and review the work of a small staff of engineers or technicians.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field and at least 4 years of prior relevant experience; alternatively, a graduate degree and at least 2 years of prior related experience, or at least 8 years of prior related experience in lieu of a degree.
• Background in systems engineering and understanding of Model-Based Systems Engineering methodologies.
• Ability to manage projects under general supervision with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to obtain a US Secret security clearance; security clearances may only be granted to US citizens.

Nice to have

• At least 2 years of relevant industry experience in systems engineering, preferably in the aerospace or defense sectors.
• Experience in requirements management, risk management, and the product development cycle.
• Experience with liquid rocket propulsion.
• Advanced degree in a relevant field.
• Experience with IBM DOORS and Model-Based Systems Engineering tools and methodologies.
