Research Internship, AI for Science (AI)

Location: Seattle, WA; interns are expected to work from the Seattle offices. On-site requirements vary by position and team.

Compensation: $94,320 annually for undergraduate interns, $106,110 annually for master's interns, and $140,000 annually for PhD interns.

What you will do

• Conduct high-impact research in AI for science and author scientific papers for publication in high-profile computing conferences and journals.
• Investigate AI research assistants, scientific literature understanding and synthesis, end-to-end discovery, data-driven discovery, and intelligent interfaces.
• Develop and evaluate methods for agentic planning, reasoning, learning, benchmarking, and long-horizon human-agent collaboration.
• Collaborate with an Ai2 mentor, scientists, engineers, and other team members across Ai2.

Requirements

• Currently completing a PhD in Computer Science or a related field, with research experience focused on one or more of the team’s active research areas.
• Publication record in AI-related venues, such as ACL, EMNLP, CHI, UIST, CSCW, NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, SIGIR, or ASSETS.
• Strong software engineering skills and experience with at least one of the following: system building with React and TypeScript, deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch, or agentic frameworks such as Autogen.
• Ability to remain stationary for long periods, observe details at close range, communicate information accurately, and work under deadlines.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States; employment authorization is verified through Form I-9 and E-Verify.

Hiring process
