TL;DR
Binding Kinetics Scientist (SPR/BLI) (Biophysics/AI-driven biotech): Reviewing and interpreting high-throughput SPR, BLI, and other assay data for AI-driven wet-lab experimentation with an accent on curve judgment, fitting, customer communication, and experimental design. Focus on detecting artifacts, analyzing batch-level patterns with Python or R, deciding when to rerun experiments, and improving automated data-processing pipelines.

Location: Lausanne, Switzerland (on-site)

Company

hirify.global is building an automated laboratory that enables AI agents to run biology experiments, combining software, hardware, automated workflows, data-processing pipelines, and AI systems.

What you will do

  • Review and interpret binding data from SPR and BLI runs, deciding what should be delivered, flagged, or rerun.
  • Evaluate sensorgrams, fitting quality, kinetic models, mass transport, avidity, baseline drift, and other artifacts.
  • Review additional assay data, including thermostability, expression, developability, and enzyme activity results.
  • Explain results and uncertainty to customers, including deliverable walkthroughs and follow-up discussions with scientists and ML researchers.
  • Design reruns by selecting changes such as orientation, regeneration, concentration series, or switching between BLI and SPR.
  • Analyze hundreds of results at batch level, identify systematic patterns and outliers, and translate review findings into requirements for the software pipeline.

Requirements

  • MSc or PhD in biochemistry, biophysics, or a relevant field, plus at least 3 years of hands-on experience with binding kinetics.
  • Deep hands-on experience with SPR and BLI, including running, troubleshooting, and interpreting data from platforms such as Biacore, Carterra, Octet, or Gator.
  • Strong fitting judgment, including 1:1 versus bivalent models, steady-state applicability, and the effects of mass transport and avidity.
  • Strong data-analysis skills with Python or R, including extracting, fitting, plotting, and analyzing hundreds of database results.
  • Willingness to use AI tools such as Claude Code for analysis scripts, database queries, and dashboards.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize work without a predefined queue, learn unfamiliar tools quickly, and operate at startup speed.
  • Ability to communicate with customer scientists, explain complex topics clearly to both biophysicists and ML researchers, and discuss uncertain results honestly.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with other biophysical or functional assays, such as DSF, HPLC, or plate-based activity assays.

Culture & Benefits

  • On-site work in Lausanne, Switzerland.
  • Full-time position with an ASAP start date.
  • Experiments are delivered to paying customers on deadlines, with emphasis on timely, practical answers.
  • Work closely with production, QC, customer success, and software teams.
  • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
