What you will do

• Lead the consumer and money agenda across a seven-day digital operation and oversee the section across platforms.
• Set editorial priorities and commission coverage on cost of living, banking, mortgages, household bills, savings, pensions, tax, scams and consumer affairs.
• Break exclusive stories and produce interviews, explainers, analysis and accurate news coverage.
• Write, edit and publish articles for the website, app, YouTube and social platforms.
• Present video podcasts, on-screen explainers and television output with confidence and authority.
• Maintain contacts across financial institutions, regulators, consumer groups, campaign organisations and industry bodies, while ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory and editorial standards.

Requirements

• Substantial experience as a consumer, personal finance or money journalist in a national newsroom.
• Experience presenting or reporting on TV and digital video, with a strong on-screen presence.
• A track record of breaking exclusives and setting the agenda.
• Excellent writing and editing skills, including the ability to make complex financial subjects clear and engaging.
• Strong contacts across banks, regulators, consumer groups and the wider personal finance industry.
• Sound knowledge of media law and Ofcom and IPSO standards.
• Good news judgement and the ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure.
