Senior Data Engineer

Location: Antwerpen, Vlaanderen, Belgium. Flexible working arrangements across the office, home, and client sites; non-Dutch speakers are not accepted.

What you will do

• Lead client engagements and co-design data engineering solutions from strategy through execution.
• Build robust, scalable data pipelines and architectures for large volumes of structured and unstructured data.
• Design cloud and distributed data solutions using platforms such as AWS, Azure, and GCP and frameworks such as Spark and Kafka.
• Develop data models and optimize relational, NoSQL, time-series, and graph database solutions.
• Implement batch, streaming, and real-time data integration, along with CI/CD and DataOps practices for reliable and automated workflows.
• Develop hirify.global’s Data Engineering offerings, support business development, represent hirify.global at professional events, and mentor junior to medior consultants.

Requirements

• Completed WO Master’s degree in Data Science, Econometrics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, (Energy) Engineering, or a related technical field involving substantial programming.
• 3–6 years of relevant professional experience or equivalent academic research.
• Proven interest in Data Engineering and relevant sectors such as Energy and Finance.
• Experience or interest in working with client-dependent technology stacks, commonly including Databricks, Snowflake, and Azure.
• Strong analytical mindset with systematic problem-solving abilities.
• Strong communication and presentation skills, adaptability, entrepreneurial drive, and the ability to explain complex technical ideas to varied audiences.
• Effective stakeholder management and the ability to guide teams through project delivery.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor colleagues and facilitate professional development.
• Fluency in English and Dutch or French fluency are required.
