Android Engineer (Kotlin)

Location: Hybrid — two days a week in the London office and the remainder working from home.

What you will do

• Design, build, ship, monitor, and iterate Android features used by customers across the UK.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to create high-quality customer experiences.
• Develop features with Kotlin and Jetpack Compose and contribute to the in-house Server-Driven UI framework.
• Support mobile infrastructure, including GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines, Google Play deployment workflows, and automated UI testing.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code; participate in code reviews and technical discussions.
• Improve accessibility, UI quality, engineering standards, and understanding of the backend systems and APIs supporting the app.

Requirements

• Commercial experience building Android applications.
• Good knowledge of Kotlin and modern Android development.
• Experience with Jetpack Compose or an interest in developing skills with it.
• Understanding of common mobile development principles, patterns, and testing practices.
• Experience building and releasing features as part of a collaborative product team.
• Ability to write clear, maintainable, and well-tested code.
• Good collaboration and communication skills, a proactive approach, ownership of work, and a desire to continue learning and developing as an engineer.

Nice to have

• Experience with reusable components or modules and Server-Driven UI.
• Experience with A/B testing or experimentation.
• Exposure to CI/CD and automated mobile testing.
• Experience integrating ML or AI-powered functionality into an app.
• Experience or interest in backend or full-stack development.
• Experience taking a feature from an initial idea through to release.
