Lead Decision Scientist (Security)

Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands. Hybrid work with 2 recommended office days per week. Remote work is available for limited workation periods: up to 90 days per year in the EU, including up to 21 days globally.

Annual gross salary: €86,600–€117,200 EUR, excluding 8% holiday pay.

What you will do

• Design decision frameworks for applying security restrictions such as verification challenges and account bans.
• Quantify trade-offs between preventing malicious activity and reducing friction for legitimate members.
• Lead strategic discovery across the user journey, including duplicate-account networks, bot patterns, and security tooling decisions.
• Build and maintain the Security metric tree and guide measurable target-setting.
• Raise standards for A/B testing and causal inference in complex environments.
• Coach embedded Decision Scientists and improve data literacy through influence and feedback.

Requirements

• Senior-level experience in Decision Science, Product Analytics, Econometrics, or a related quantitative field.
• Experience leading complex analytical projects as a senior individual contributor.
• Strong experience designing metric systems and decision frameworks for ambiguous trade-offs.
• Practical expertise in A/B testing and causal inference.
• Strong hands-on proficiency in SQL and Python or R for data analysis and modeling.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to guide cross-functional stakeholders without formal authority.

Nice to have

• Experience in trust and safety, fraud prevention, risk assessment, cybersecurity, or two-sided marketplaces.
