Senior Staff Security Software Engineer (AI Security)

Location: Remote within the United States, with California listed as the preferred location; candidates in other US locations will be considered.

Salary: $182,900–$314,250 USD annual base salary range, depending on pay zone.

What you will do

• Define and evolve the shared Security AI platform architecture and governed agentic workflows.
• Establish reusable patterns for agent identity, least-privilege access, sandboxing, egress control, secret isolation, policy enforcement, auditability, and rollback.
• Design production-grade platform capabilities for secure multi-agent workflows, tool registries, policy-aware orchestration, and agent-to-agent collaboration.
• Define metrics and qualification mechanisms for reliability, safety, governance coverage, trust, autonomy, and business value.
• Align security and engineering leaders across multiple organizations on platform direction, architectural tradeoffs, and adoption priorities.
• Mentor engineers and lead rigorous design reviews covering distributed systems, AI security, threat modeling, reliability, and operability.

Requirements

• 10+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, security platform architecture, or systems security.
• Experience operating at an L7/Senior Staff level at a major cloud, platform, or high-growth technology company.
• Exceptional fluency in Python and cloud-native systems architecture, including Kubernetes, distributed streaming or storage, and high-throughput microservices.
• Experience delivering fault-tolerant, low-latency security infrastructure and leading multi-quarter architectural transformations across organizations.
• Deep practical expertise in AI/ML security, agentic trust boundaries, prompt injection, tool-use risks, adversarial testing, identity, authorization, data protection, and secure AI deployment.
• Strong technical communication skills and experience influencing senior engineering and security leaders beyond formal reporting lines.

Nice to have

• Experience building secure agent platforms, developer platforms, security control planes, or shared internal infrastructure.
• Experience with MLOps, AI serving infrastructure, security data platforms, detection systems, or large-scale security automation.
• Published research, patents, or recognized contributions in adversarial ML, AI safety frameworks, or open-source security platforms.
• Experience with large-scale LLM training pipelines, vector databases, AI agent runtime environments, or AI regulatory frameworks.
