Senior Casualty Underwriter (Commercial Insurance)

Location: Melbourne or Perth, Australia; team members are expected to be primarily in the office

What you will do

• Develop and underwrite commercial casualty business, including renewals, administration, marketing, compliance, and legal obligations.
• Assess and price client risks within delegated underwriting authority.
• Build broker, client, producer, and industry relationships to grow hirify.global’s casualty market share.
• Develop and execute strategic plans, production budgets, and profitable growth initiatives for the Australian casualty portfolio.
• Monitor and report production, retention, new business, hit rates, loss ratios, claims activity, overdue premiums, and late bookings.
• Coordinate with client engagement, actuarial, legal, claims, finance, accounting, and other profit centre teams.

Requirements

• Experience in casualty underwriting across primary casualty and excess/umbrella products in the commercial segment.
• Technical underwriting skills with a solution-focused and entrepreneurial approach.
• Established working relationships with key broking partners at major broking houses.
• Understanding of management reporting, profitability assessment, financial impact, underwriting principles, and pricing principles.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders.
• Strong relationship management and interpersonal skills.
