Senior Engineer, Application Security (Cybersecurity)

Location: On-site in San Diego, California, United States

Salary: $120,000–$190,000 per year, plus bonus, benefits, and equity for regular full-time employees

What you will do

• Define application security policies for the Hivemind Enterprise software development kit.
• Deploy and configure security scanning tools within CI/CD pipelines.
• Review scanning results and collaborate with developers to identify and remediate application security issues.
• Work with the architecture team to design a secure-by-default software product.
• Perform threat modeling and validate designs against secure coding standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with approximately 5+ years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree with approximately 4+ years, in cybersecurity, software engineering, or a related technical field.
• Experience developing or testing secure code.
• Strong understanding of CI/CD, automated testing, configuration management, and software lifecycle processes.
• Familiarity with threat modeling and software analysis tools, including static analysis, dynamic analysis, dependency mapping, and CVE scanning.
• Comfort working in a Linux development environment and a basic understanding of cryptography.
• Strong organizational, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Application security experience with a large, complex software product.
• DevSecOps experience, especially in a GitLab environment.
• Experience writing or testing Python, C/C++, or Go.
• Red-teaming or software reverse engineering experience.
