Senior Data Engineer (ETL)

Location: Remote, based in Athens, Attica, Greece

What you will do

• Support migration from legacy data collection and database systems to modern cloud-based platforms.
• Design, develop, and maintain ETL/ELT and data integration solutions.
• Build Python-based data extraction, validation, transformation, and migration scripts.
• Modernize SAS-based data processing and reporting workflows.
• Integrate data from multiple sources into reusable datasets and optimize database structures for analytical and operational workloads.
• Test, deploy, maintain, document, and continuously improve data pipelines in collaboration with stakeholders, engineers, architects, and platform specialists.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, or a related field.
• At least six years of professional experience in data management and software development after completing university studies.
• Advanced Python skills, including ETL/ELT design and implementation.
• Strong SQL, relational database, data integration, validation, transformation, and migration experience.
• Experience migrating legacy systems to cloud-based platforms and using version control systems such as Git.
• English fluency at C1 level or higher according to the CEFR is required.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of PySpark, Apache Spark, Databricks, Azure data services, or other cloud data platforms.
• Experience with SAS modernization or migration to Azure-based platforms.
• Familiarity with automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices.
• Exposure to international, multicultural, or regulated environments.
