Senior Backend Engineer .NET (Quality Engineering)

Location: Rotterdam, Netherlands. Hybrid working: 40% from the office, 40% from home, and 20% flexibly. With manager approval, work abroad is possible in approved countries for up to 3 weeks per year, with a maximum of 2 consecutive weeks.

Gross annual salary: €80,000–€120,000, including FlexBudget and an 8% holiday allowance.

What you will do

• Build and maintain backend services and integrations in .NET and C# for hirify.global’s Virtual Power Plant.
• Connect and optimise behind-the-meter batteries, solar installations, and other customer-side assets.
• Design and maintain automated integration and end-to-end tests across services and integrations.
• Run load and performance tests to identify bottlenecks, scalability risks, and reliability issues.
• Drive proofs of concept, contribute to system design with architects, and improve test automation and feedback cycles.
• Mentor junior and medior engineers, participate in code reviews, and share on-call responsibility for a 24/7 system.

Requirements

• Around 7 years of backend engineering experience with .NET and C#.
• Experience building complex, highly available distributed systems and working with event-driven architecture and asynchronous messaging.
• Experience with Azure, CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, microservices, and relational and non-relational databases.
• Practical experience with automated integration and end-to-end testing, load testing, and performance analysis.
• Strong quality engineering mindset, including testability, automation, scalability, and reliability.
• Must live in the Netherlands and speak fluent English. Willingness to take on-call responsibility is required.

• Knowledge of energy markets, optimisation, or aggregation platforms.
