TL;DR
Reliability Engineer (Data Infrastructure): Maintaining reliable and secure data systems through incident resolution, root cause analysis, service monitoring, and operational readiness with an accent on data warehousing, ETL, Unix/SQL scripting, and cloud technologies. Focus on supporting 24/7 on-call operations, assessing stability and resilience, and collaborating with cloud engineering and data teams to prevent recurring issues.
Location: Livingston, UK; hybrid working with 3 days in the office per week. The role requires the appropriate right to work in the UK; visa sponsorship is not available.

What you will do
- Resolve incidents, perform detailed root cause analysis and retrospectives, and implement proactive changes to prevent recurrence.
- Support 24/7 on-call rotas across multiple systems and technologies when required, approximately one week every six weeks.
- Collaborate with cloud engineering and other teams to deliver reliable and secure customer solutions.
- Monitor service performance continuously, assessing stability, capacity, and resilience.
- Help data engineers build systems that are operationally ready.
- Participate in knowledge-sharing and personal development activities.
Requirements
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Understanding of data warehousing best practices and principles.
- Focus on quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
- Adaptability, openness to new ideas, and willingness to take on new responsibilities.
- Ability to make judgement calls on complex issues.
- Experience with an industry-standard ETL tool, such as Ab Initio or Striim.
- Unix and SQL scripting experience.
- Experience with cloud technologies, ideally GCP.
