Mechanical Test Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Noordwijk, Netherlands, at the ESA/ESTEC Test Centre. The role requires on-site support at the Test Centre, and candidates must be eligible to work in the EU.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain Mechanical Ground Support Equipment for testing activities in ESTEC laboratories and Test Centre facilities.
• Create 3D CAD models, manufacturing drawings, technical specifications, schematics, P&ID diagrams, and engineering documentation.
• Perform structural analyses and finite element modelling to verify design compliance and performance.
• Support manufacturing, assembly, installation, commissioning, inspections, proof load tests, acceptance testing, audits, and verification activities.
• Manage and coordinate test-facility development, modification, and upgrade activities throughout the project lifecycle.
• Gather requirements, support procurement, coordinate suppliers and contractors, and monitor technical, quality, safety, and schedule compliance.

Requirements

• Master's degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
• At least 4 years of experience in mechanical design and development of engineering systems, equipment, or test facilities.
• Experience with 3D CAD tools, preferably 3DX or equivalent, and with structural analysis and finite element modelling using Nastran/Patran or similar tools.
• Ability to produce manufacturing drawings, technical specifications, design justification documents, engineering reports, schematics, and P&ID diagrams.
• Experience managing technical projects or facility developments involving multiple stakeholders, plus knowledge of testing, verification, inspection, and acceptance processes.
• Fluent English, written and spoken, and eligibility to work in the EU are required.
