Robotics Software Engineer (Autonomous Navigation)

Location: Carate Brianza (MB), Italy. Hybrid smart working is available, typically one day per week, subject to team policy. Occasional travel to customer sites is required.

What you will do

• Maintain, debug, and optimize existing ROS/ROS 2 C++ and Python navigation codebases.
• Configure hardware, calibrate LiDAR, IMU, and camera sensors, and test physical robots.
• Measure robot performance against technical specifications and tune SLAM, localization, and path planning for dynamic environments.
• Troubleshoot production issues, validate fixes on deployed hardware, and provide technical support at customer sites.
• Collaborate with Software, Hardware, and Customer Support teams to improve system robustness.

Requirements

• Degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
• Real-world experience deploying, testing, and maintaining autonomous robot navigation systems.
• Strong C++ and Python skills, with practical ROS/ROS 2 and Nav2 experience.
• Ability to diagnose hardware/software interactions and troubleshoot LiDAR, RGB-D cameras, and IMUs.
• Familiarity with MQTT, NATS, or WebRTC protocols.
• Full professional proficiency in English, a driving licence, and willingness to travel occasionally to customer sites are required.

Nice to have

• Experience with industrial robots, AMRs, AGVs, automation commissioning, or industrial tools.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with robotic fleet management systems.
• Familiarity with AI/ML and deep or reinforcement learning applied to robotics.
