Junior Back-End Engineer

Location: Remote from LatAm, North Macedonia, Portugal, or Serbia

What you will do

• Build backend components including APIs, serverless functions, queue systems, and data storage services.
• Write clean, well-tested code and documentation, and participate in code reviews.
• Join architecture and design discussions with guidance from senior engineers.
• Apply security and data-protection best practices to backend development.
• Collaborate with technical leads, clients, and Machine Learning and Data Engineering teams.
• Take ownership of tasks while developing independence through a structured career track and mentorship.

Requirements

• 1–2 years of backend development experience.
• Fluency in Python or Node.js with TypeScript.
• Solid computer science fundamentals and understanding of API and web communication protocols, including OpenAPI or gRPC.
• Understanding of concurrency concepts in APIs and web applications.
• Ability to work container-first.
• Excellent English is required for meetings, customer calls, and business communications; the CV must be written in English.

Nice to have

• Experience with Go, TypeScript, PHP, Ruby, Django, FastAPI, Next.js, Express, Laravel, or Ruby on Rails.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, MySQL, or Redis.
• Knowledge of traditional and serverless architectures, AWS, CI/CD pipelines, or DevOps tools such as AWS CDK, CDKTF, or Terraform.
• Experience with generative AI tools and services or observability platforms.
