Dam Site Engineer (Tailings Storage Facility)

Location: Residential onsite role in Waihi, New Zealand. Full-time, Monday to Friday, 50-hour week. A valid New Zealand working visa is required.

What you will do

• Provide site engineering and QA/QC support for tailings storage facility construction, embankment raises, seepage controls, decants, pipelines, drains, and related infrastructure.
• Coordinate contractors, field crews, surveyors, laboratories, and suppliers to deliver works safely and in the correct sequence.
• Verify construction against approved drawings, technical specifications, methodologies, inspection and test plans, and quality requirements.
• Coordinate field testing, material verification, compaction and density testing, survey set-out checks, and inspections of earthworks, lining systems, drainage, pipework, and structural components.
• Maintain site diaries, quality registers, inspection records, progress data, test results, material traceability, non-conformance reports, and construction documentation.
• Support commissioning, handover, close-out, completion dossiers, technical queries, field changes, defect rectification, and coordination with operations, technical services, geotechnical engineers, contractors, and the Engineer of Record.

Requirements

• Degree in Mining Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geological Engineering, or Surveying.
• At least 5 years of experience in mining, preferably in project environments.
• Full and current driver licence; ability to drive manual vehicles is preferred.
• Valid New Zealand working visa required.
• Ability to work onsite in Waihi on a residential basis and complete a 50-hour Monday-to-Friday week.
