Staff Toolmaker / Laser Tracker Operator (Aerospace)

Location: Torrance, California, United States; travel between sites is required as needed.

What you will do

• Operate laser trackers and model-based inspection software for large-scale aerospace structures.
• Establish reference systems, datum strategies, and alignments on and off the part.
• Analyze geometric data and provide technical direction for tooling, welding, machining, and assembly.
• Lead complex builds from blueprint through final installation, including precision drilling, dowelling, epoxy pours, rigging, and large-scale assembly.
• Coordinate tracker scheduling, software licensing, remote site support, and operations across facilities.
• Improve tooling and inspection strategies while maintaining aerospace quality and safety standards.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in toolmaking, laser tracking, or aerospace manufacturing.
• Advanced proficiency in Verisurf or equivalent inspection software, including model manipulation, feature reporting, alignment strategies, and reference system establishment.
• Hands-on experience with Leica, Faro, and/or API laser trackers and related hardware.
• Strong GD&T knowledge and experience applying it to complex aerospace structures.
• Experience leading complex builds and working with rigging, epoxy pours, precision drilling, dowelling, and large-scale assembly.
• High school diploma or equivalent; relevant technical experience may substitute for higher education.
