Software Engineer (Mission Applications)

Location: San Francisco, United States. U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, or refugee/asylee status is required to comply with U.S. Government space technology export regulations.

Base salary: $130,000–$175,000 USD per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and maintain software for satellite commanding, health monitoring, and fleet management.
• Build backend services and tools coordinating network operations, payload operations, and automated payload testing.
• Develop forecasting and analytical tools for satellite and network performance, pre-sales, and capacity planning.
• Own features end to end, including backend architecture, database modeling, operator interfaces, and automation scripts.
• Build web-based commanding consoles, telemetry visualizations, execution tracking, and procedure orchestration tools.
• Partner with payload engineers, network engineers, system architects, and flight operators to define requirements and software architecture.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience and a record of end-to-end ownership through production operations.
• Strong proficiency in Python or a similar backend language, with experience using FastAPI, Flask, or gRPC.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, including schema design, query optimization, and data modeling.
• Experience with TypeScript, JavaScript, and React for internal tools and operator dashboards.
• Experience designing reliable APIs and event-driven architectures, and deploying production services with Linux and Docker.

Nice to have

• Experience with distributed systems, observability, Kubernetes, multi-cloud environments, or on-premises infrastructure.
• Background in aerospace, satellite operations, industrial automation, mission operations, or automated testing frameworks.
• Experience with real-time telemetry processing, time-series data, distributed pub/sub systems, or high-consequence software.
