Major Case Specialist General Liability

Location: Hybrid role based in Morristown, New Jersey, United States; other listed locations include New York City and Melville, New York. Travel, including overnight stays, may be required for mediations, trials, and arbitrations.

Annual base salary: $104,000–$171,700, plus eligibility for performance-based cash incentive awards and a sign-on bonus.

What you will do

• Manage a caseload of complex bodily injury and property damage claims and litigation from first notice of loss through resolution.
• Investigate claims, gather evidence, assess liability and damages, and establish appropriate reserves.
• Evaluate coverage, contractual indemnity issues, and claim documentation to determine resolution strategies.
• Negotiate with claimants, legal representatives, and other parties to reach fair settlements.
• Coordinate internal and external resources, partner with counsel on litigation management, and present claim trends and outcomes to senior management.
• Maintain accurate claim records, improve best practices, and adapt to AI-related technology implementations and digital tools.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; a bachelor's degree is expected for the ideal candidate.
• At least four years of bodily injury liability, property damage liability, or comparable claims experience; five-plus years of complex bodily injury claims and litigation experience preferred.
• Active adjuster license where required by state law and the ability to obtain relevant insurance licenses within three months of starting.
• Expert knowledge of insurance principles, policy language, exclusions, ISO forms, insurance regulations, and fair claims practices.
• Strong investigation, decision-making, negotiation, conflict resolution, communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
• Experience with claims management and estimating software, Microsoft Office, and enterprise technology platforms.
