Manufacturing Engineer II (Aerospace)

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; onsite manufacturing role.

Hiring range: $104,000–$156,000 USD annually, plus equity.

What you will do

• Share operational ownership of large 3-axis mills, 5-axis mills, and a vertical turning lathe used to manufacture Terran R structures.
• Introduce new products and improve high-volume machining work across multiple large-scale machining centers.
• Define tooling, processes, work instructions, specifications, and best practices for new machining work centers.
• Support the shop floor through live issue resolution and provide feedback for new manufacturing technologies.
• Collaborate with design, manufacturing, reliability, production, and external vendor teams.
• Provide Design for Manufacturing feedback from development through prototype and flight builds.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, aeronautical, mechanical, or another engineering discipline.
• 5+ years of progressive, relevant experience.
• 3D and 2D design and drafting skills according to ASME Y14.5M; NX is preferred.
• Direct experience with CNC milling and turning across multiple materials, including machine setup and G-code programming.
• Strong fundamentals in statics, mechanics of materials, process improvement, factory design, fastening, joining, and machining.
• Ability to collaborate with engineering and manufacturing groups to address process constraints and improve manufacturability.

Nice to have

• Extensive CNC milling, turning, and drilling experience across multiple materials.
• Aluminum machining experience and experience with large parts over 6 feet.
• Experience designing workholding for complex machining operations.
• Successful introduction of aerospace hardware into manufacturing, testing, and production systems.
• Project management experience in a fast-paced environment.
