Flight Test Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Wichita, Kansas, USA; regular onsite support is required and full-time remote work is not available.

What you will do

• Plan, prepare, execute, and report flight tests for experimental aircraft.
• Fly as a crewmember alongside test pilots, operate cabin experimental provisions and test instrumentation, and record mission results.
• Develop test plans, instructions, limitations, post-flight reports, technical documentation, and progress reports.
• Coordinate test aircraft and experimental equipment configurations with engineering, maintenance, instrumentation, project management, and other disciplines.
• Design and develop safety-critical real-time data displays and derived parameters.
• Apply safety and risk-mitigation procedures while complying with FAA and Transport Canada regulations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline.
• At least 5 years of experience within a flight test engineering organization.
• Previous experience with flight test procedures and Part 25 or equivalent aircraft certification processes.
• Ability to obtain and maintain an FAA Class 3 Medical Certificate or equivalent.
• Must be a US Person—US Citizen or Permanent Resident—to qualify for ITAR security clearance.
• Ability to work onsite, travel, and work irregular hours, including occasional weekends.

Nice to have

• Previous flying experience as a pilot or other crew member.
• Programming experience for automation and workload reduction.
• Experience with defense programs and US Government processes.
• Strong leadership, communication, prioritization, and data-management skills.
