Frontend Desktop Engineer (P2P)

What you will do

• Develop and maintain Keet Desktop, a cross-platform peer-to-peer communications application.
• Implement user interfaces and user experiences with React on the Pear runtime.
• Optimize frontend performance, including rendering and memory management.
• Build modular, maintainable, and well-tested frontend code.
• Test and debug complex frontend applications.
• Collaborate effectively in a remote, globally distributed environment.

Requirements

• Production experience with React or Preact and modern JavaScript or TypeScript.
• Strong knowledge of state management with Redux, Redux Toolkit, Zustand, or similar tools.
• Experience writing modular, maintainable, and well-tested code.
• Strong testing and debugging skills for complex frontend applications.
• Deep interest in or experience with peer-to-peer technologies or distributed systems.
• Excellent English communication skills and comfort working remotely with a globally distributed team.

Nice to have

• Desktop application development experience with Electron, Tauri, or similar runtimes.
• Familiarity with WebRTC, media streams, video/audio APIs, and real-time communication.
• Experience optimizing UI performance and building cross-platform applications for macOS, Windows, or Linux.
• Open-source contributions, especially in peer-to-peer or decentralized technology.
