Freelance Event Specialist (Events)

Location: On-site in Gqeberha, South Africa; candidates must already be based in Gqeberha.

What you will do

• Prepare for events through virtual planning meetings with corporate, nonprofit, venue, and hirify.global partners.
• Set up, coordinate, and break down in-person events while maintaining a high-quality customer experience.
• Act as the onsite hirify.global representative, aligning roles across hosts, nonprofits, venues, staff, and corporate partners.
• Manage guest check-in, welcome attendees, facilitate groups, and interact with large crowds.
• Resolve supply, staffing, technology, and other operational issues, escalating when necessary.
• Send event updates, photos, and videos; pack supplies, label shipments, and help load materials.

Requirements

• Fluent English and strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Already based in Gqeberha, South Africa; no relocation package is offered.
• Experience with complex large-scale events and smaller executive-level events.
• Experience with group facilitation, customer service, event execution, and managing group dynamics.
• Flexible availability for per-event contract work, including nights, weekends, travel within the local region, and varied tasks.
• Ability to lift, slide, and carry up to 30 lbs and stand for extended periods.
