Quality Engineer (Mobile, Audience Experience)

Location: Remote within the United States; occasional travel to Portland, Oregon, may be required.

Annual salary: $115,663–$138,795.

What you will do

• Own and evolve the mobile app automation suite and quality roadmap across iOS and Android.
• Define test strategy across unit, component, integration, and end-to-end levels, identifying coverage gaps and partnering with engineers to close them.
• Drive shift-left quality practices, testability in design reviews, and testable acceptance criteria with Product, Design, DevOps, and Data.
• Integrate tests into CI/CD with clear gates, fast feedback, actionable reporting, and reduced flaky failures.
• Perform targeted exploratory testing of critical flows, accessibility, offline and poor-connectivity behavior, edge cases, and new designs.
• Track defect rate, change-failure rate, test stability, coverage depth, crash-free rate, and production signals to validate releases and guide risk mitigation.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience, or equivalent skill, building and maintaining automated tests and quality tooling in a product team, including production software at scale.
• Demonstrated ability to independently build and own a mobile automation suite, design stable tests, integrate them into a delivery pipeline, and reduce flakiness without ongoing pairing support.
• Experience with mobile UI automation using durable, maintainable patterns.
• Risk-based coverage analysis experience, including identifying where tests add the most value and partnering with engineers to close gaps.
• Experience using logs, metrics, traces, crash reporting, and other production signals to guide testing strategy and risk mitigation.
• Ability to translate usability, accessibility, and performance expectations into testable acceptance criteria.
• Fluency with iOS and Android conventions, mobile performance budgets, device diversity, offline behavior, and app-store release constraints.
• Ability to surface blockers early, drive them to resolution, give and incorporate feedback, and grow ownership over time.

• Experience with Appium and the Page Object Model.
• Practical mobile accessibility techniques and qualitative usability methods.
• Comfort using AI-assisted tools to generate test ideas and data, summarize signals, and draft reports with human review and privacy-safe handling.
