Embedded Flight Software Engineer (TS/SCI Cleared)

Location: Los Angeles, California, USA; in-person collaboration at the Playa Vista office.

hirify.global is a fast-growing aerospace startup that manufactures satellite buses at scale using software, vertical integration, and manufacturing-oriented hardware.

What you will do

• Develop low-level flight software that configures processors, peripherals, and avionics communication interfaces.
• Write and debug device drivers for satellite sensors, actuators, and other bus components.
• Implement onboard algorithms for closed-loop control and fault detection, including responses to failed sensors and radiation upsets.
• Own mission-critical software across architecture, development, validation, deployment, manufacturing, and flight operations.
• Plan and execute unit, integration, and system-level testing while diagnosing defects and improving reliability.
• Collaborate with systems, hardware, test, mission operations, and GNC teams, including support for spacecraft commissioning during launch and early operations.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship or eligibility to access export-controlled data under applicable U.S. regulations.
• Active Top Secret clearance with SCI access and SAP eligibility.
• 8+ years of experience writing C/C++ for embedded systems, ideally involving spacecraft, robotics, automotive, or other physical hardware.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or an equivalent field.
• Strong proficiency in C++, Python, or Rust.

Nice to have

• Flight software, microcontroller, bare-metal, or RTOS development experience.
• Hardware/software integration experience, including schematics, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and first-power-on hardware bring-up.
• Experience with FPGA development, satellite attitude control systems, motors, power electronics, and feedback sensors.
• Knowledge of embedded and real-time operating systems, device drivers, satellite communication protocols, networking, secure communications, and data serialization.
• Experience with version control, configuration management, automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines.
