Senior Solutions Analyst - Solution Design (AI)

Location: Primarily remote within the United States; occasional travel to Department of the Interior locations may be required. Availability is required during DOI core hours, 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. ET.

What you will do

• Lead solution-focused discovery and process assessments with business analysts, architects, data engineers, developers, and stakeholders.
• Translate requirements and future-state workflows into designs covering user interactions, business rules, data, APIs, integrations, automation, low-code capabilities, and AI-enabled components.
• Identify source systems, enabling datasets, data-quality needs, interface requirements, dependencies, and technical assumptions.
• Maintain traceability from business needs and requirements through solution design, prototypes, testing, and user acceptance.
• Evaluate solutions for feasibility, scalability, interoperability, security, accessibility, maintainability, and operational fit.
• Produce solution diagrams, data flows, integration requirements, validation rules, decision logs, assumptions, and implementation guidance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of relevant experience in solutions analysis, systems analysis, solution design, technical consulting, architecture support, or related modernization work.
• Experience converting complex business requirements and future-state workflows into technical or functional solution designs.
• Working knowledge of enterprise applications, APIs and integrations, data modeling and flows, cloud or low-code platforms, security, and modern application delivery.
• Ability to evaluate technical options and communicate constraints, assumptions, and tradeoffs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Must successfully complete the background investigation, suitability, credentialing, and system-access requirements for a Moderate Risk Public Trust position.
• Must be available during DOI core hours of 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. ET.

Nice to have

• Experience using SQL to query and validate source data and Python to profile datasets, investigate data quality, or test assumptions.
• Engineering, architecture, systems-integration, or technical-consulting experience.
• Experience with Microsoft Power Platform, Azure, Copilot Studio, AI/LLM-enabled solutions, or comparable enterprise platforms.
• Experience with APIs, governed data, financial workflows, data extraction, data governance, rules-based automation, or high-volume processing.
• Experience with federal modernization programs, Section 508, FedRAMP, Zero Trust, or regulated technology environments.
