Platform Security Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid in San Francisco, United States

Salary: $210,000–$300,000 per year, plus equity

What you will do

• Identify and remediate security risks across AWS infrastructure, Terraform, application architecture, and product code.
• Partner with engineering and SRE teams on secure system design, identity and access management, secrets management, vulnerability management, and infrastructure hardening.
• Review RFCs, PRRs, application and infrastructure changes, data flows, access controls, abuse cases, and technical risks.
• Coordinate penetration testing, assess findings, plan remediation, and validate fixes.
• Lead technical investigations during security and privacy incidents, analyzing application, cloud, identity, network, audit, and infrastructure telemetry.
• Design and maintain SIEM detections, improve logging, and develop security tooling and automation.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience in application, cloud, infrastructure security, or security-focused site reliability engineering.
• Production AWS security experience, including identity, networking, logging, data protection, and cloud attack paths.
• Strong Terraform and infrastructure-as-code security knowledge.
• Experience reviewing application architecture or source code for vulnerabilities, including API, authentication, authorization, and data-security risks.
• Experience investigating complex technical events, writing or tuning SIEM detection rules, and evaluating penetration-test findings.
• Strong scripting or software-development skills, demonstrated proficiency with agentic software development, and clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience with security or privacy incident response and leading technical investigations.
• SANS FOR509 training or certification.
• Purple teaming, threat modeling, detection engineering, cloud forensics, or security automation experience.
• Experience owning or coordinating an external penetration-testing program.
• Technical project management and cross-functional security-domain partnership experience.
