Senior Software Engineer - Software Quality and Performance (Robotics)

Location: Eindhoven (Strijp-T), Netherlands; onsite, 40 hours per week

What you will do

• Design and build onboard applications in modern C++, using Python where appropriate.
• Co-develop software architecture, interfaces, component structure, and system requirements.
• Work close to hardware and firmware while enabling control and algorithm engineers to build higher-level autonomy through ROS.
• Design and implement automated unit, integration, system, regression, and hardware-in-the-loop tests.
• Improve software quality, performance, security, release management, and engineering practices across the codebase.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership through implementation, design and code reviews, technical decisions, and mentoring.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Typically 5+ years of professional software engineering experience developing and maintaining complex production-grade software.
• Expert knowledge of modern C++17 or newer and strong practical experience with Python.
• Strong production experience with Linux, CMake, Docker, embedded Linux, ARM64, and NVIDIA Jetson platforms.
• Deep understanding of memory management, concurrency, threading, ownership and lifetime, undefined behaviour, performance analysis, and system-level debugging.
• Experience with secure software development, requirements traceability, qualification testing, formal verification evidence, risk analysis, and software-intensive systems targeting TRL 8.

Nice to have

• Experience in aerospace, robotics, automotive, industrial, defence, or other high-reliability systems.
• Familiarity with functional-safety, software-assurance, cybersecurity, or quality standards.
• Experience with FMEA, FTA, hazard analysis, reproducible builds, SBOM, dependency control, and release provenance.
