Intern, Java (Fintech)

Location: Vienna, Austria; hybrid working model combining onsite collaboration and remote work. An additional 25 days per year may be used to work from a city or country of choice.

What you will do

• Write clean, testable Java code for backend services and microservices powering the payments engine.
• Collaborate with senior engineers, product managers, and QA to refine requirements and deliver reliable features.
• Apply modern design patterns, microservice architecture, and automated testing practices.
• Contribute hands-on development to active payments projects affecting end users.

Requirements

• Foundational knowledge of computer science or a related technical discipline.
• Practical Java proficiency gained through personal projects, coursework, or other experience.
• Understanding of microservices, relational databases, and message queues.
• Knowledge of clean code, maintainable software, unit testing, and integration testing.
• Strong communication skills, work ethic, and willingness to learn from senior engineers.
