Forward Deployed Engineer, AWS Forward Deployed Engineering (AI)

Location: London, United Kingdom; requires 30–50% travel to customer environments.

What you will do

• Embed within customer engineering teams to understand business processes, technical architecture, and operational constraints.
• Design and build production-grade AI applications, including retrieval pipelines, workflow automation, API orchestration layers, and data integrations.
• Integrate foundation models, customer data sources, and existing applications into cohesive AI experiences.
• Own the full software development lifecycle, including scoping, design, coding, testing, deployment, operations, and maintenance.
• Implement monitoring, evaluations, guardrails, and CI/CD while troubleshooting production incidents and resolving root causes.
• Mentor engineers, conduct code reviews, and create reusable patterns that accelerate future customer AI deployments.

Requirements

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of experience in an Agile, startup, or rapidly scaling environment.
• Experience communicating technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Experience with agentic and spec-driven development, AI evaluation frameworks, agent tooling, RAG pipelines, and prompt engineering.
• Availability for 30–50% travel to customer environments.

• Experience working in customer production environments.
• Experience building or deploying AI/ML applications in production.
• Founder, engineering lead, or startup-builder background with high ownership.
• Experience with React, TypeScript, Python, Go, AWS services, or end-to-end production systems.
• Experience interfacing with customers or leading technical projects with external stakeholders.
