Senior Fluid Systems Engineer (Nuclear)

Salary: $158,000–$219,450 annually, plus equity

What you will do

• Own the end-to-end engineering of primary loop and power conversion fluid systems, including compressors, valves, heat exchangers, and piping.
• Perform thermal, fluid, thermodynamic, structural, and finite element analyses to guide design decisions and verify system performance.
• Conduct trade studies, select components and suppliers, and manage bills of materials.
• Develop assembly and manufacturing instructions, test plans, and subsystem production schedules.
• Lead subassembly manufacturing, testing, and FMEA risk analysis.
• Collect requirements and communicate technical guidance across multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Materials, Aeronautical, Civil, or Structural Engineering from an accredited institution.
• 5+ years of experience designing, building, and testing fluid systems.
• Experience with fluid system architecture design.
• Proficiency in fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and heat exchanger design and analysis.
• Willingness to work 100% onsite in El Segundo and extended hours or weekends when necessary.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of thermodynamic power cycles and process piping codes such as ASME B31.3 and ASME PCC-2.
• Experience designing piping systems for thermal growth using hand calculations and FEA tools.
• Experience modeling fluid systems with MATLAB or Python.
• Experience with design for manufacturability, production hardware builds, and test stands.
• Experience in nuclear engineering is not required.
