TL;DR
Senior Propulsion Sytems Analyst I (Cryogenic Rocket Propulsion): Developing transient startup and shutdown simulations, valve sequences, test campaigns, and data processing tools for Archimedes rocket engines with an accent on fluid systems analysis, engine performance modeling, and test data review. Focus on grounding models with test data, coordinating engine and vehicle system needs, and solving complex cryogenic propulsion transient challenges.

Location: Long Beach, California, United States. The role is associated with U.S. office work and may involve prolonged sitting, standing, walking, computer work, and occasional exposure to noise, dust, and fumes in production areas. U.S. work authorization or eligibility for applicable ITAR authorizations is required.

Base salary: $115,200–$172,800 USD annually. Total compensation, including equity: $135,450–$208,475 USD annually.

What you will do

  • Develop transient startup and shutdown simulations for the Archimedes engine family.
  • Develop and maintain valve sequences and test campaigns for engine transient verification.
  • Support test-site and vehicle transient campaigns through data review, model grounding, and valve-sequence updates.
  • Serve as the technical point of contact for engine transients.
  • Coordinate with engine leads on subcomponent and vehicle-system requirements for healthy engine transients.
  • Create and maintain data-processing tools.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience with fluid-systems analysis for a cryogenic liquid-propulsion rocket engine.
  • Expertise using or building a lumped-parameter fluid-analysis tool.
  • Knowledge of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and fluid-system design fundamentals.
  • For U.S. office work, eligibility under applicable U.S. Government ITAR export regulations is required.

Nice to have

  • Advanced degree in a fluid-mechanics-heavy field.
  • 4+ years of experience designing and operating an engine system or components for a staged-combustion rocket engine.
  • Experience with ROCet Engine Transient Simulation Software (ROCETS).
  • Experience with methyl/LOX fluid systems.

Culture & Benefits

  • Competitive base pay with company equity and an Employee Stock Purchase Program offering a 15% discount.
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage, including HMO, PPO, and a zero-cost HDHP option with HSA contributions.
  • Paid vacation and sick time, 11 paid holidays, paid parental leave, disability and life insurance, and a 401(k) with company match.
  • Flexible spending and dependent-care accounts, subsidized EV charging, fitness benefits, snacks and beverages, and employee discounts.
  • Work involves fast-paced development, close teamwork, tight deadlines, and hands-on work on launch-vehicle hardware.
