Lab Operations Manager (Wastewater Epidemiology)

Location: South San Francisco, United States; hybrid workplace with onsite laboratory work

Salary: $94,000–$142,000 base salary per year, plus bonus, equity, and benefits

What you will do

• Manage laboratory operations across the full sample lifecycle, from collection through delivery, testing, and reporting.
• Build relationships with laboratory science teams and understand programs, contracts, and testing workflows.
• Identify operational problems and implement process improvements through domain expertise and cross-functional communication.
• Coordinate laboratory, operations, software, vendors, partners, and suppliers to deliver contract commitments.
• Track key metrics, expenses, and contract deliverables while building robust operational processes.
• Act as the internal point of contact for vendor activities and day-to-day operational execution.

Requirements

• BA/BS degree in biological sciences or equivalent practical experience.
• 2–3 years of relevant industry experience managing cross-functional programs and stakeholders.
• Experience managing external vendors and statements of work, including expense and KPI tracking.
• Experience managing cross-functional projects and communicating updates to internal and external stakeholders.
• Excellent communication, organization, and project management skills across multiple programs and workstreams.
• Must not require employer-sponsored work authorization now or in the future for employment in the United States.

Nice to have

• Experience with laboratory operations, molecular science, or epidemiology.
• Experience implementing quality control measures for laboratory deliverables.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate across organizational levels.
• Data-driven, highly organized, and detail-oriented approach.
