SRE - Database Reliability (All Levels)

Location: Hybrid role based in the San Francisco, CA or New York, NY office; in-office on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

Base salary: $176,000–$250,000 per year, plus equity for full-time roles.

hirify.global is a Series A fintech startup building an AI-native disputes automation and fraud prevention platform for banks and credit unions.

What you will do

• Own production Aurora PostgreSQL reliability, availability, performance, capacity planning, and major-version upgrades.
• Define backup policies, point-in-time recovery procedures, and scheduled restore tests with measured recovery objectives.
• Lead the data-side migration from Aurora PostgreSQL to DynamoDB, including data modeling, backfills, dual writes, validation, cutover, and rollback.
• Manage database access and security through least-privilege roles, credential rotation, audit logging, and encryption.
• Build data-layer observability for slow queries, connection saturation, replication lag, and storage growth using Datadog.
• Respond to data-layer incidents, write post-incident reviews, and maintain operational runbooks.

Requirements

• Production PostgreSQL experience with accountability for database incidents.
• Deep knowledge of query planning, indexing, vacuum and bloat, connection pooling, replication, and major-version upgrades.
• Hands-on experience with point-in-time recovery, restore drills, and measured recovery times.
• Experience with AWS data stores, including Aurora PostgreSQL Serverless v2 and DynamoDB data modeling.
• Comfort with Terraform or OpenTofu, CI pipelines, and scripting in Python, Go, or Bash.
• Experience with PCI DSS, SOC 2, or a similar regulated environment, plus clear technical writing.

• TimescaleDB in production.
• Completed migration from a relational database to DynamoDB.
• Datadog database monitoring experience.
