Data Scientist (Machine Learning)

Location: Hybrid in Berlin, Germany; required to work from the Berlin office 3 days per week

What you will do

• Translate product and business challenges into modeling problems, hypotheses, and measurable objectives.
• Build and ship production-ready, scalable machine learning solutions for recommendation systems.
• Design experiments, develop rapid prototypes, evaluate results, and iterate on promising solutions.
• Improve traveler experience and business metrics through data-driven modeling.
• Collaborate with Data Science, Product, Engineering, researchers, and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Communicate findings, recommendations, and technical trade-offs to technical and non-technical audiences.

Requirements

• Strong foundations in statistics, machine learning, and programming.
• Hands-on experience developing machine learning models in business or production environments.
• Experience solving complex, real-world data science problems and explaining individual contributions and measurable impact.
• Ownership, sound judgment, analytical thinking, and the ability to work independently.
• Fluency with AI-assisted workflows and the ability to critically evaluate their outputs and limitations.
• Collaborative mindset, curiosity, humility, and commitment to continuous learning and knowledge sharing.

Nice to have

• Experience with PyTorch, Polars, CometML, Arize, Docker, Airflow, Trino, Git, or GitHub.
• Familiarity with Agile practices, including sprint planning and team ceremonies.
