Backend Developer (Java/Spring Boot)

Location: Fully remote; candidates sought in Europe or LATAM, including Croatia. Most working time should overlap with 9 am–7 pm CET.

Salary: €3,000/month gross under a B2B contract.

What you will do

• Develop clean, maintainable, testable, and efficient backend code in Java and Spring Boot.
• Build secure, reliable REST APIs and backend services for frontend applications and system integrations.
• Design and maintain PostgreSQL schemas, queries, indexes, migrations, and data models using Hibernate/JPA.
• Develop microservices, business logic, third-party integrations, and internal services for a modern digital product.
• Write automated tests and take backend features from implementation through testing and release.
• Collaborate with frontend, QA, DevOps, product, design, and client-side stakeholders while raising risks and unclear requirements early.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional backend development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, Hibernate/JPA, PostgreSQL, SQL, data modeling, and REST APIs.
• Experience with automated backend testing, Git, pull requests, code reviews, microservices, and distributed systems.
• Ability to independently deliver features, understand business requirements, and communicate dependencies and technical decisions clearly.
• Fluent professional English is mandatory.
• Availability to work remotely from Europe or LATAM with substantial CET-hours overlap.

Nice to have

• Experience with Java 21, AWS, ECS/Fargate, Domain-Driven Design, or Event-Driven Architecture.
• Experience in fintech, SaaS, HR, payroll, ERP, AI-enabled products, or complex enterprise platforms.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code.
• Spanish proficiency and experience working with LATAM stakeholders.
