Senior Staff Engineer, Structures and Vibration (Aerospace)

What you will do

• Serve as the structural and vibration technical authority for the V-BAT aircraft program.
• Develop structural standards, design criteria, factors of safety, analysis methods, material allowables, and joint design practices.
• Own system loads and define structural requirements for subsystems, components, and suppliers.
• Lead static, stability, modal, dynamic, fatigue, composite, and weight-efficiency analyses using hand calculations and FEA.
• Define vibration and shock test requirements, including planning, verification, validation, and model-to-test correlation.
• Review analyses and test reports, support design and production issues, present findings, and mentor structural engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 12+ years of structural analysis experience on aircraft, UAS, or comparable complex systems, including structural lead or technical authority experience.
• Expert knowledge of structural mechanics, hand calculations, strength, stability, fatigue, and structural dynamics.
• Expertise with FEA tools, preferably Siemens Simcenter, Nastran, or Femap; ANSYS and Abaqus are acceptable equivalents.
• Significant experience with composite aircraft structures, bolted joint analysis, and composite design requirements.
• Hands-on vibration and shock testing experience, including test planning, instrumentation, data review, and working knowledge of MIL-STD-810.

Nice to have

• Master’s or Ph.D. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• Lead structural engineering experience on Group 2–5 UAS, rotorcraft, or VTOL aircraft.
• Experience deriving vibration environments from flight-test data, modal testing, and FEA model correlation.
• Experience with structural weight reduction, composite allowables such as CMH-17, and composite manufacturing.
• Familiarity with MIL-HDBK-516, RTCA DO-160, aircraft structural certification, or high-growth defense environments.
