Intern, Test Engineering (Automotive EV)

Location: Garden Grove, California; 4 days in-office per week. Full-time schedule of 40 hours per week. Internships last 8 weeks for a quarter or 15 weeks for a semester, from January 11 to April 30 or January 11 to March 12.

Compensation: $25–35 USD per hour. A $1,000 relocation stipend is available for interns residing more than 50 miles from Garden Grove, California.

What you will do

• Test automotive components for performance, durability, and reliability under varied conditions.
• Set up, operate, monitor, maintain, and calibrate equipment for mechanical, electrical, and thermal testing.
• Collect and analyze test data, document results, and prepare detailed reports.
• Support test plans, procedures, execution, and the development of internal testing infrastructure.
• Collaborate with design, manufacturing, quality, and senior test engineers to communicate findings and recommend improvements.
• Troubleshoot test failures and support root-cause analysis, safety compliance, and potential solutions.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program or higher in electrical, mechanical, mechatronics, or a related engineering field.
• Familiarity with schematics, testing and data acquisition hardware, and test scripts for electrical, mechanical or structural, and thermal testing.
• Understanding of 2D drawing layouts and GD&T.
• Motivation to learn and take ownership of projects with guidance.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States or able to obtain the necessary work visa.

Nice to have

• Experience creating 3D CAD models and 2D drawings with CATIA 3DExperience.
• Understanding of high-voltage architecture in electric powertrains.
• Familiarity with Python and LabVIEW.
• Prior automotive project experience and knowledge of basic manufacturing and fabrication processes.
