GCP DevOps Engineer (GCP)

Join a well-established retail business operating a large, mature Google Cloud estate across multiple environments.

What you will do

• Run, maintain, and upgrade in-cluster platform tooling, including FluxCD.
• Deploy workloads through GitOps, troubleshoot platform issues, and provision namespaces and environments.
• Scale and right-size workloads using Kubernetes and HPA.
• Develop and improve the Datadog monitoring estate, including alerts, dashboards, notification routing, and runbook integration.
• Fix High and Critical CVEs within a 14-day target, maintain base images, and review Security Command Center findings.
• Write runbooks and documentation, support service reviews, and escalate issues to third-party partners when needed.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of relevant experience.
• Deep experience with Google Cloud Platform, GKE, Kubernetes operations, workload scaling, and right-sizing.
• Strong Datadog experience covering monitor configuration, alert tuning, dashboards, notification routing, and runbook integration.
• Experience with GitOps, FluxCD, CI/CD workflows, Terraform or Config Connector, Docker, Git, and Linux.
• Experience with container image lifecycle management, CVE patching, and Google Cloud Security Command Center.
• Ability to work remotely from the United Kingdom.

• Consulting or client-facing experience.
• Google Chronicle or SecOps experience.
• Scripting with Python, Node, C#, or PHP.
• GCP cost optimisation experience.
• Google Professional Cloud Architect or Cloud DevOps Engineer certification.
