TL;DR
Senior Data Engineer (SQL Server/ETL): Building and maintaining reliable data pipelines, shared data foundations, and operational and reporting data models across SQL databases, ERP exports, spreadsheets, and other source systems with an accent on data quality, reconciliation, and SQL Server performance. Focus on integrating fragmented legacy data, designing robust ETL/ELT processes, tuning complex queries, and applying data masking and access controls.

Location: Remote from any location; must provide some overlap with US Pacific Time for client meetings.

hirify.global is hiring for a contract data engineering engagement.

What you will do

  • Extract and integrate data from SQL databases, spreadsheets, ERP report exports, flat files, and other source systems.
  • Clean, standardize, match, deduplicate, validate, and reconcile data across multiple systems.
  • Design, develop, and maintain reliable ETL/ELT pipelines and data loads.
  • Build operational and reporting data models, shared data foundations, data dictionaries, mappings, and business rules.
  • Write and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and database processes, including SQL Server performance tuning.
  • Implement data masking, access controls, least-privilege practices, documentation, and clear communication of data issues to BI, application, technical, and business stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 6–8 years of professional experience in data engineering.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server, advanced SQL, query optimization, and performance tuning.
  • Strong ETL/ELT development, data integration, and operational and reporting data modeling experience.
  • Experience with SSIS, Azure Data Factory, or Python.
  • Hands-on experience with data cleansing, matching, deduplication, validation, and reconciliation.
  • Ability to provide some overlap with US Pacific Time for client meetings.

Nice to have

  • Experience creating Power BI data models.
  • Experience with inventory, procurement, supply-chain, or ERP data.
  • Experience in agriculture, food, manufacturing, or related industries.
  • Experience working with client-side IT teams, business stakeholders, legacy systems, and fragmented data.
