Director of Traffic and Networking

What you will do

• Set the strategic roadmap for Snowflake’s networking foundation and lead execution of complex infrastructure initiatives.
• Guide the development of software that automates and scales networking across AWS, Azure, GCP, and other environments.
• Lead the design and implementation of ingress, egress, domain management, internal networking, proxy, service discovery, and network automation systems.
• Provide technical leadership for high-performance, secure, and abstracted cloud networking layers.
• Recruit, hire, mentor, and develop engineering leaders and individual contributors.
• Manage operational priorities and production issues while improving reliability, product velocity, and efficiency.

Requirements

• 15+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years managing engineering leaders.
• Experience designing distributed systems and operating large-scale production infrastructure focused on networking, compute, or storage.
• Strong hands-on experience with cloud service providers, including AWS, Azure, and GCP.
• Deep experience with multi-tenant or multi-single-tenant SaaS environments handling large-scale traffic and complex queries.
• Excellent cross-functional communication skills and experience connecting technical infrastructure requirements with business goals.
• BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have

• Experience modernizing legacy infrastructure and building observability capabilities.
• Experience owning a full traffic stack and developing network architecture across multiple clouds.
