Machine Learning Engineer (Ranking Systems)

Location: Remote from multiple countries around the world, subject to country-specific employment eligibility. Availability is required during hirify.global's coordination hours, Monday-Friday, 9am-3pm Pacific Time.

Salary: US-based applicants: $189,507-$274,604 USD annually. Canadian applicants: CAD $227,108-$263,271 annually outside Toronto and Vancouver, or CAD $243,330-$282,076 annually in Toronto and Vancouver, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Improve machine learning ranking models for hirify.global's feed, notifications, and digest emails.
• Own machine learning systems end to end, including data pipelines, candidate extraction, feature engineering, model training, and production integration.
• Advance the second-phase ranking model behind feed and digest.
• Identify new opportunities to apply machine learning across the hirify.global product.
• Develop algorithms and systems efficiently with other machine learning engineers.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional experience with recommendation or ranking models.
• Strong understanding of the mathematical foundations of machine learning algorithms.
• Experience building end-to-end machine learning systems.
• 5+ years of experience writing Python or C++ code.
• Bachelor's, master's, or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Availability during 9am-3pm Pacific Time coordination hours.

Nice to have

• Experience with generative recommendation systems.
• Experience with user behavior or sequence modeling, transformers, or long-sequence modeling for ranking.
• Experience leading large-scale projects involving multiple engineers.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
