Senior Software Engineer - Orchestration (Python)

Salary: $163,920–$196,712 USD per year

What you will do

• Design and implement features and performance improvements for the orchestration control plane, including the scheduler, execution harness, and results processing.
• Develop, test, review, and maintain performant backend services and reusable components.
• Write technical designs, explain trade-offs, review pull requests, and contribute to feature and sprint planning.
• Improve test coverage, reduce technical debt, troubleshoot production issues, and create post-mortems and mitigation plans.
• Collaborate with product managers, QE, customer support, and engineering peers to deliver reliable, scalable services.
• Participate in the on-call rotation and use AI assistants and coding agents across development and SDLC documentation.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software industry experience building backend services and solving complex software engineering problems.
• Experience with distributed systems, cloud computing, code reviews, technical design, testing, and production troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in a modern backend or systems language such as Python, Java, C++, or C#.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure, plus Docker and Kubernetes.
• Ability to independently lead feature-level design and implementation work and communicate design trade-offs clearly.
• Fluency with AI code assistants, coding agents, and conversational AI for software development and SDLC artifacts.

Nice to have

• Experience with ETL, ELT, cloud data platforms, metadata, catalogs, lineage, or discovery systems.
• Experience with GraphQL APIs and high-throughput, multi-tenant data services.
• Familiarity with BuildKite, Datadog, Grafana, analytics engineering, or the dbt ecosystem.
