Senior Engineer / Scientist (Space Warfare)

Salary: USD 135,000–175,000 yearly

What you will do

• Provide senior-level scientific, engineering, and technical advisory support to AFRL space warfare and information and spectrum warfare directorates.
• Evaluate technologies, systems, concepts, and research and development activities for technical merit, feasibility, maturity, and warfighter impact.
• Conduct technical studies, analyses, assessments, evaluations, and trade studies.
• Support technology planning, investment strategies, technology maturation, demonstrations, integration, and transition activities.
• Prepare technical documents, briefings, presentations, recommendations, and decision-support materials for government leadership.
• Collaborate with government, industry, academia, federally funded research and development centers, and other technical partners.

Requirements

• Active DoD Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility is required.
• PhD with seven years of experience, master’s degree with nine years of experience, or bachelor’s degree with twelve years of experience in an engineering or science discipline.
• Demonstrated experience with space or information and spectrum systems or technologies.
• Experience providing engineering, scientific, or technical support for research and development activities.
• Ability to conduct technical analysis and provide sound technical recommendations.
• Ability to communicate complex technical information through written products, briefings, and presentations.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting AFRL, the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Space Force, DARPA, DoD, or other government research organizations.
• Experience with space communications, positioning, navigation and timing, space cyber, modeling and simulation, space situational awareness, ISR, high-powered electromagnetics, laser systems, or electro-optics.
• Experience with technology investment planning, R&D portfolio planning, technology maturation, or technology transition.
• Experience developing executive-level technical briefings, studies, analyses, and recommendations.
