Customer Support Developer (Databases)

Location: Remote in Canada, within Pacific, Mountain, or Central timezones

Salary: CA$101K–CA$110K per year, plus equity

What you will do

• Act as the primary technical escalation point for database-related customer issues through email, ticketing systems, and video calls.
• Investigate and reproduce connector problems using logs, query plans, replication slots, transaction logs, sync state, and destination table state.
• Support database authentication, SSL and SSH tunnels, permissions, CDC setup, schema evolution, incremental syncs, and destination typing.
• Contribute Java and Kotlin fixes to open-source database connectors and the Bulk CDK, including error handling, CDC, and schema-evolution improvements.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, Solutions Engineering, Sales Engineering, and Customer Success on customer issues, onboarding, and roadmap feedback.
• Create troubleshooting documentation, mentor Technical Support Engineers, and develop AI-assisted playbooks and automation.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in software engineering, data engineering, technical support, DevOps, QA, or a similar technical role.
• Fluency in SQL, including query plans, isolation levels, and performance bottlenecks.
• Proficiency in Java or Kotlin, with the ability to read, write, and debug JVM-based connector code.
• Hands-on experience with relational databases, data warehouses, or data lakes, including CDC, schema evolution, and query optimization.
• Experience with JDBC, database drivers, connection and authentication issues, SSL, SSH tunnels, cloud platforms, and ELT/ETL workflows.
• Must be located in Canada and work within Pacific, Mountain, or Central timezones.

Nice to have

• Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, MSSQL, Oracle, MongoDB, Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, or ClickHouse.
• Experience with Iceberg, Delta Lake, S3, GCS, Azure Blob, Kubernetes, Docker, or multi-tenant architectures.
• Familiarity with hirify.global's Bulk CDK, open-source database connectors, CI/CD, GitHub workflows, or AI-assisted development tools.
• Background supporting developer-facing or embedded B2B SaaS products.
