Staff Propulsion Systems Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Hybrid in Niagara Falls, NY; consideration may be given to hirify.global locations in East Aurora, NY; Arvada, CO; Mountain View, CA; Chatsworth, CA; Gilbert, AZ; or Huntsville, AL, with occasional travel to Niagara Falls.

Salary: $138,000–$180,000 annually.

What you will do

• Lead propulsion system design and development from conceptual design and customer requirements through qualification, production, and potential high-rate industrialization.
• Lead or oversee system and fluidic analyses, component selection, system baselining, and coordination with internal and external suppliers.
• Drive design, verification, build, and test plans for components, subsystems, and complete propulsion systems.
• Develop product requirements with customers and sales personnel, translate them into engineering strategies, and present technical work to customers and colleagues.
• Perform trade studies and analyses to validate conceptual solutions and support business pursuits.
• Mentor, coach, interview, train, and counsel engineers while guiding conceptual designs and drawings in Teamcenter, NX, or comparable CAD tools.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in engineering; a master's degree or PhD is preferred.
• At least 7 years of progressive experience, with 12 years preferred, including 5 years leading or supporting development projects.
• Experience interfacing with customers and strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Leadership ability, including mentoring and coaching other engineers.
• Ability to obtain a U.S. Department of Defense security clearance and access U.S. export-controlled information.
• Successful completion of a full physical examination, including bloodwork and pulmonary function testing.

Nice to have

• Experience designing propulsion systems for large-scale, high-volume production with a design-for-manufacturing mindset.
• Master's degree or PhD in engineering.
